The much touted nine-month post-launch content schedule for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 DLC releases has been brought to light by Activision. Starting on January 24, this DLC drop will go on till September of this year. Call of Duty Elite premium members will be the first ones to get their hands on this content. Moreover, the offering will first be released only through Xbox Live, after which, it will make its way to other platforms.
From January till September, Call of Duty Elite premium members on Xbox Live will receive regular updates in the form of at least 20 content drops. They would include new multiplayer maps, Special Ops Missions, fresh game modes and more. Players who are not a part of Elite would however have to purchase the DLCs as and when they get released through the Modern Warfare 3 Content Collections.
Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, revealed, “The mammoth launch of Modern Warfare 3 and the breakout success of Call of Duty Elite were just the beginning. The whole Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 DLC launch for Elite premium members will take place once in a month for nine months. Furthermore, during the first three months of this year, five different content drops will occur thrice – in January, February and March. The first two Content Drops are all set to offer two new maps named Liberation and Piazza. The third such drop will be made available in mid-February, whereas two more Content Drops are scheduled to go live in March. And it is in March that the first Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection will be purchasable for non-Elite gamers.
Apart from the schedule, it has also been disclosed by Activision that along with the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 DLC releases, specialized events with real-world prizes would be held for Elite members throughout this year.
