Left 4 Dead 2 Cold Stream DLC Coming this Month

Here’s some good news for fans of Valve’s zombie-slaying co-op FPS: the Left 4 Dead 2 Cold Stream DLC is finally ready, and it will launch for the Xbox 360 and PC on July 24, 2012. Apart from the fan-made Cold Stream campaign content, this pack will even kick in ports of the Death Toll, Dead Air, Blood Harvest and Crash Course levels from the first game in this series.

Select PC and Mac users have been beta testing the DLC since March last year. And in July, Valve had announced a new program which stated that the developer would release L4D2’s Dead Air pack early if 20,000 people survived a campaign from the Cold Stream pack. This deal succeeded and players got to play the new content earlier than expected.

“The date will be July 24th. There are some other surprises and details we will give you later but for now we just want to confirm an often requested feature. With the update going out at the same time (also for the PC), all of the mutations will be available at all times. This will allow players to choose to match into games playing Taannkk!, Gib Fest, or even a user created mutation like Confogl,” read a post on the official left 4 Dead blog.

This second iteration to the L4D series was released for the Xbox 360 and PC in 2009, while its Mac launch took place in the following year. Akin to the first game, this FPS has its main focus set on cooperative play. It now sells for the Xbox 360 at a price of 29.99 USD (approx. Rs. 1,670), and its PC and Mac versions are set at 19.99 USD (approx. Rs. 1,115) each.

Gamers waiting for the Left 4 Dead 2 Cold Stream DLC will be able to download it from July 24 onwards.
