The Darkness II to be unveiled at Comic-Con

The list of attractive games to be released this October received a diminution recently when 2K Games announced that The Darkness II will be releasing in February next year. This title which is a successor to the much appreciated The Darkness is being showcased at the Comic-Con at eight playable demo kiosks.

The game is touted to have ‘a brutal and personal narrative’ and follows former hitman Jackie Estacado who exerts ancient and ruthless forces to bring about devastation known as Darkness. Based on the comic book by the same name the title has been in the news for its quad-wielding feature. Players can use their two Demon Arms to slash, grab, and throw objects at enemies at the same time firing two weapons.

“The game is layered with thematic elements of dark versus light, steeped in deep and twisted storytelling, and maintains the stylistic violence visualized through a hand-painted graphic noir technique, true to its comic book origins,” stated the official announcement by 2K Games.

The Comic-Con will feature a special panel form The Darkness II titled, ‘Spreading The Darkness: From Comic Book to Video Games and Entertainment’ as a celebration of the 15th Anniversary of The Darkness franchise. The panel will include co-creator Marc Silvestri, voice artist Mike Patton as well as other developers from Digital Extremes and will take place today.

The Darkness II will see a North America release on February 7, 2012 while gamers form other parts of the world will get to play the game form February 10 onwards.
