It was announced at the Call of Duty XP event which is currently underway in Los Angeles, California that the Call of Duty Elite would be priced at 49.99 USD and will provide gamers with access to the whole year’s downloadable content. Other incentives offered by the Elite include the ability to track lifetime statistics on smartphones and tablets.
The leaked image of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Hardened Edition indeed turned out to be real as the 49.99 USD subscription will come bundled along with this edition of the game. Gamers can also subscribe to the Elite separately. Another important aspect of this membership is that it endows players with ownership of the DLCs rather than just plain access. This means that the content won’t vanish when subscriptions ends.
As reported by 1UP, Activision Publishing CEO, Eric Hirshberg announced at the Call of Duty XP that unlike the content of Black Ops which followed a ‘four times a year’ schedule, new DLCs for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be released more often. What makes the 50 USD price tag of Elite so significant is the fact that four DLC releases over the course of a year would normally cost 60 USD.
Furthermore, Elite buyers get eight times more storage for replay videos than others. Daily tournaments would also be available to Elite members where they can win real-world and virtual prizes which apparently include badges, trophies, iPads, and Jeeps. Moreover, these tournaments will be monitored round the clock by real individuals to make sure that there’s no cheating.
The battles will be divided on the basis of different skill levels so even new players can participate in them. Access to Elite TV is also included in the prize list. This TV will screen premium episodic content made specifically for Elite members. It will comprise of fan-made videos with a commentary track by Jason Bateman and Will Arnett. Besides, a show called Friday Night Fights will be filmed this fall in Modern Warfare 3’s multiplayer mode.
The Call of Duty Elite will cost gamers 49.99 USD (approx Rs. 2,288). It will also be included in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Hardened Edition which can be pre-ordered currently at a price of 99.99 USD (approx Rs. 4,578) for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
