Free DriveClub still not released for PS Plus members, Sony has not answers as to why

DriveClub has been marred with controversies ever since it came out late last year. While it suffered from an awful lot of online issues upon its launch, the release of its much awaited free version meant for PS Plus subscribers was pushed back by Sony. And one would have hoped that the publisher would at least have released this version more than four months after that, but it’s still unreleased for some reason, much to the disappointment of those hoping to jump into the free version.

And there has just been a new development regarding the matter, which appears to have put the fate of the PS Plus version of Driveclub in jeopardy. During an interview with Metro, Jim Ryan the head of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe was quizzed on this matter, to which he replied, ‘That’s still being looked at.’ He was then asked whether the free version would ever ship, and Ryan chose to go with, ‘I can’t say anything at this stage.’

The fate of the free Driveclub version for PS Plus members has hence been kept hanging in the balance. This version was promised to gamers during the PS4’s unveiling event in E3 2013. During that time, the game was supposed to be released in the same year, but a delay pushed its launch into early 2014. It got delayed once again, and was finally outed in October 2014, but to not-so-favorable reviews unfortunately.

If you’re a PS Plus gamer and are waiting for your free copy of Driveclub to arrive, do make sure to keep checking this space for any further updates.
