Angry Birds-maker Rovio it seems couldn’t stay away from the match 3 genre for long, as they’ve just released Jolly Jam, a game that resembles the ridiculously popular Candy Crush Saga. It of course brings with it a few gameplay twists as well which you can experience if you happen to own an Android or iOS device. The game is free to download, and it does contain micro-transactions for gaining slight advantages if you’re stuck at certain levels.
Jolly Jam asks you to save the Jelly Kingdom by defeating jelly monsters and saving Princess Honey. As part of a new mechanic, it asks you to strategically match the fruit jelly in a box, and fight monsters with an aim of advancing to the next level. Moreover, the game also allows you to create combo attacks and boosters in order to unleash colorful explosions. It features more than a hundred different levels, and even kicks in support for worldwide leaderboards.

For Jolly Jam, Rovio has taken a leaf from King’s Candy Crush Saga which has become a household name not only in India but in many countries from around the world. It was launched as a Facebook offering initially, but was later also released for iOS, Android and Windows Phone devices. Recently, a sequel for the game was also released in the form of Candy Crush Soda Saga which is available to play on Android and iOS devices, but is still to be released on other platforms.
