GRID 2 Revs Up for 2013 Release

A new world of competitive motorsport will apparently be on offer to gamers with GRID 2 which is under development currently from series-creator Codemasters for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. This racer acts as a sequel to the 2008 title, Race Driver: GRID, and has been announced to contain new locations including Chicago and Paris.

It is being crafted by the developer using an evolved version of the EGO game engine. And with the help of this technology, Codemasters aims to raise the bar for gameplay and technological in motorsport gaming. A new iteration of the handling model from the previous title will be making its way into this one. Called the TrueFeel Handling System, this feature will utilize real physics to combine accessibility and simulation in order to deliver better handling to players.

“GRID’s back and we’re going to make street, track and road racing exciting again. The core design philosophy for GRID 2 is that we treat the race as a character, not a consequence of simply putting cars on tracks. Everything that goes into the game impacts on that second-to-second, in the moment, blockbuster drama – the feel and personality of the race,” revealed Clive Moody, Executive Producer.

A collection of cars spanning four decades and three continents will be made available, while gamers will get to race on locations like Paris, Abu Dhabi, Miami, California as well as newly designed tracks and licensed circuits from around the world. The title will indeed comprise a multiplayer mode, and the RaceNet trait which we witnessed in Codemasters’ DiRT Showdown will also be infused into it.
