A post on the official PlayStation blog has revealed that the first copies of Twisted Metal will come bundled with a download code for Twisted Metal: Black. Released in 2001 for the PS2, this title was the fifth installment to this popular series and had received quite some appreciation for its vehicle combat gameplay. The number of copies that will comprise this code has not been disclosed by the developer yet.
The new game was earlier scheduled to release in October this year, but it was in August 2011, that the launch was pushed forward to February 2012. An eighth installment to the TM franchise, this title will revolve around the same original plot which involves contestants trying to win Calypso’s Twisted Metal Tournament. A number of previously seen characters will be making their way into the game as playables. These include Sweet Tooth (The Clowns), the Preacher (The Preachers), Dollface (The Dolls) and Mr. Grimm (The Skulls).
Every character will have its own storyline that can end in three different ways depending upon the actions performed during the game. Along with the single-player campaign, multiplayer matches would also form a part of this offering. This August, David Jaffe, co-founder of Eat Sleep Play had announced on the same blog that the title won’t be ready for an October release. ‘We’re just not ready yet,’ was the reason that he citied for this delay, promising that the final game will be ‘much better’ than what it was during the October window.
Twisted Metal is slated to release exclusively for the PS3 on February 14, 2012. It can currently be pre-ordered at a price of 59.99 USD (approx. Rs. 3,170).
