MX vs. ATV Reflex from THQ set for the Holiday Season

The long running off-road racing franchise gets a new installment as THQ announces the Holiday 2009 release of MX vs. ATV Reflex. The game will feature the Rhythm Racing 2.0 physics engine which introduces the intuitive dual stick control separating man from machine, and allows for real world terrain deformation.

“Rhythm Racing 2.0 is the most advanced physics engine Rainbow Studios has ever created, and is an all-inclusive framework that characterizes the essence of MX vs. ATV Reflex,” exclaimed Nick Wlodyka, GM at Rainbow Studios. “We’ve combined the fluid Rider Reflex control system with ever-changing, real-time terrain deformation to create an experience that will immerse gamers in the rhythm of a race like never before.”

“The MX vs. ATV franchise consistently sets the bar for excellence in the racing genre, offering gamers, racing fans and mainstream consumers an immense variety of content and cutting-edge physics,” stated Brian Coleman, VP of Global Brand Management, THQ. “MX vs. ATV Reflex takes the core elements of the franchise to the next level.”

Developed by Rainbow Studios, MX vs. ATV Reflex features real-time terrain deformation and a Rider Reflex control system. With the terrain deformation, tracks are always changing, and the furrows created by the tires of vehicles ahead actually affect the way a player navigates that particular area of the course. The Rider Reflex control system allows riders to shift their weight while driving to perform breath-taking stunts and avoid near fatal collisions. MX vs. ATV Reflex will release in the holiday season of 2009 for the Xbox 360, PS3, PSP, and Nintendo DS. No prices have been announced but the game will feature online play via the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.
