Wolfenstein 3D for XBLA Confirmed?

Earlier, a Wolfenstein game, Wolfenstein 3D Classic, was released for the iPhone and iPod Touch by id Software. Also it was speculated that the game would be coming to the Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network. Now IGN reports that on the official Xbox site, the classic Wolfenstein 3D has been confirmed to be heading to the XBLA.

Wolfenstein 3D first arrived in 1992, and the game has almost single-handedly shaped the scenario for future first person shooters. The Xbox Live Arcade version will only be single player and will feature leaderboards. The game needs a storage device and will apparently be compatible with the 1080i video mode.

No clear release date has been announced for Wolfenstein 3D for the Xbox Live Arcade which is being developed by Nerve Software, the studio that had made the XBLA version of Doom, and published by Activision Publishing. Activations is also in the process of publishing a new Wolfenstein game which is yet to be released.
