Armored Core 6

From Software fans awaiting the revival of the beloved Armored Core franchise have something to smile about. They will only have to wait until August 25 this year to lay their hands on the sixth main entry to the franchise, which comes almost a decade after the previous one.

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon will be made available on the said date for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. A fresh gameplay trailer has been released by its makers, giving us a thorough look at what to expect from the much-awaited mecha shooter.

As you can see, dynamic mech combat awaits gamers as they embark on the planet of Rubicon, which exists in a post-apocalyptic mess. Here, amidst the massive, abandoned constructions, human factions are fighting for control of a rare material called Coral.

Seeing that the game is being developed by From Software, if you’re expecting a bit of Soulsborne-like gameplay in it, you’re not in luck.

Not too long ago, the developers had confirmed that Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon won’t feature the high-difficulty, environmental storytelling-focused gameplay that was popularized by the likes of Dark Souls, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Elden Ring, among others.

The Armored Core series has its roots set way back in 1997. Since then it has seen plenty of spin-offs and sequels. Its last main entry came out in 2013 in the form of Armored Core: Verdict Day, which was released for the PS3 and the Xbox 360.

And now, after a gap of almost ten years, fans will finally be able to jump into Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon. The eager ones among them can start placing their pre-orders now through major retailers.
