GTA 6 Trailer Coming This December: Everything We Know So Far

Grand Theft Auto 5

Rockstar Games has confirmed that the next Grand Theft Auto game, which everyone is obviously calling GTA 6, will get a trailer this December to celebrate the company’s 25th anniversary. Although nothing else has been revealed officially, we do have a broad idea about important aspects related to the game.

Official Updates

GTA 5 was released way back in 2013 and since then, Rockstar has launched it on plenty of different platforms and has continued to regularly update GTA Online with fresh content. Red Dead Redemption 2, another open-world extravaganza from the studio, came out in 2018.

We don’t know when the development for GTA 6 actually started but Rockstar Games spoke about the game for the first time in February 2022. As part of an update to the GTA Online community, the company mentioned that development on the next GTA game is “well underway.”

In August of the same year, Rockstar’s parent Take-Two Interactive confirmed the same news, while adding that its makers are “determined to once again set creative benchmarks for the series, our industry, and for all entertainment.”

This was followed by the latest official update from Rockstar, which says that the game will receive a trailer this December.

GTA 6 Release Date

Nothing official has been said about when GTA 6 will hit store shelves but leaks have indeed given us an idea. Multiple sources have mentioned that the game will come out in 2025.

This seems to have been corroborated by Take-Two, which has predicted a huge revenue boost in fiscal 2025, implying that the game should arrive by March 2025.

GTA 6 Setting, Characters, Gameplay

As you probably know already, there was a massive GTA 6 leak that took place in September last year. Over 90 videos and screenshots from an early, in-development alpha build of the game had surfaced online.

And while they have all been taken offline since, Rockstar has acknowledged and authenticated this leak, corroborating various aspects, including its setting, characters, and gameplay.

As expected, GTA 6 will be set in Vice City, Rockstar’s take on Miami, which was first featured in 2002’s GTA Vice Cty. While that game’s story took place in the 1980s, the latest offering will apparently take place in modern times.

Unsurprisingly, the game’s map is expected to be the largest in the series to date. But what’s also being speculated is that it will feature an evolving map system, much like the one in Fortnite.

Two playable characters are expected to form part of the game’s experience. Their in-development names are Jason and Lucia, and it appears that the character-switching system from GTA 5 will see a return.

The leaked footage has also confirmed that the weapon wheel and ‘Wanted’ levels will also be part of GTA 6, whenever it launches. You can expect the game to arrive on Xbox Series X/S and PS5 at the least.
