The Division 2 Players Gaining “Excessive XP” By Exploiting Game Mechanics Face Permanent Bans

The Division 2

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is a highly engrossing multiplayer experience but it appears the game is turning quite sour for some players these days. And no, the repeated no-show of the much-demanded The Division 2 crossplay support is not the reason for this.

The game’s makers have announced that they are “monitoring” players who are manipulating the game’s mechanics to gain “excessive XP” in a short time. This is causing high latency in the servers, making it “unstable and unenjoyable” for the rest.

“We are monitoring this behavior and players that make use of these exploits will receive a temporary ban (14 days) from the game on first offence. Repeat offenders will be banned permanently,” reads a post from the developers on Twitter.

That said, there is no mention of what this exploit exactly is. But needless to say, this warning of permanent bans should indeed convince the perpetrators to stop taking advantage of it.

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 was released in 2019 and is still going strong thanks to a steady stream of downloadable content that’s being doled out for it by developer Massive Entertainment.

The game is set in a near-future Washington, D.C., in the aftermath of a genetically engineered virus known as “Green Poison.” A spinoff titled Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland is currently under development as well.

Unlike the main games, it will take place in rural America. This one is set to feature two modes. Storm Operations will be a player-versus-player-versus-environment mode that will have gamers fending off agents from rogue factions while surviving a virus.

The second mode is Excursion Operations, a player-versus-environment mode that will see players completing missions and collecting loot/gear.

Coming back to Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, it’s now available to play on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Amazon Luna.
