New Star Wars game in the making from Titanfall studio

There will be a Star Wars game in the near future which will be coming from the same studio that gave us 2014’s much appreciated mecha shooter Titanfall. Electronic Arts has made it known that Respawn Entertainment has been tasked with creating this new game, the details about which are extremely scare at the moment.

May the 4th or Star Wars day was chosen by the publisher to make this announcement. What should be noted is that the Titanfall maker is the first external studio that EA is working with on a new title from the classic sci-fi franchise.

Other than Respawn Entertainment, EA-owned studios like Capital Games, Visceral Games, DICE, BioWare and Motive are also actively working on Star Wars projects. EA Studios executive Patrick Soderlund has cited the launch of Titanfall to be one of the most ‘successful new game launches of this generation,’ implying that this played a big role in giving the reigns of the next Star Wars game to Respawn.

Development of this game is being led by God of War 3 director Stig Asmussen. The latest mainstream game from the franchise to hit the block was Star Wars Battlefront which was released by EA last year for the PS4, the Xbox One and PC.

It is considered a reboot to the previous games, instead of a sequel. The game was released worldwide in November 2015, and received mixed reviews from critics. While its visuals and epic moments were greatly appreciated, it was criticized for its immense focus on multiplayer elements.
