Halo: Spartan Strike is officially available for Windows, iOS and Steam

Microsoft has a new treat for Halo fans as the next addition in the franchise, Spartan Strike, has finally been released. The game is a multi-platform top-down shooter that’s designed for mobile devices and also PC which is mainly why it’s available on Steam, Windows Phone 8, Windows 8 and iOS-powered iPad as well as iPhone.

As you probably know, Halo: Spartan Strike has been launched after a huge delay. The game was initially supposed to arrive back in December. Designed by 343 Industries through collaboration with Vanguard Games, the Microsoft Studios published title takes place in the same timeline as Halo 2 in the location of New Mombasa.

It follows the footsteps of a Spartan supersoldier who leads the UNSC troops through various areas like cities and jungles as part of a classified ONI simulation. The game has a total of 30 challenging missions and an all-new roster of weapons. The new Halo installment is also getting fresh abilities and vehicles.

The title is basically designed for an enhanced pick-up-and-play experience as it offers intuitive touch controls and great graphics. Microsoft notes that there are achievements to be earned which unlock exclusive content in Halo: The Master Chief Collection on the Xbox One. Additionally, Windows 8 users will be treated to leaderboards to add a competitive edge to the game.

Halo: Spartan Strike is priced at $5.99 as a digital download and Microsoft is also offering a bundle on the iPad, iPhone and Steam which includes the first top-down game in the series, Spartan Assault, for $9.99. If you’re waiting for the next big installment in the franchise, Microsoft recently revealed a release date for it.
