Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City Launched for PS3 and Xbox 360

Capcom has announced the release of its latest entry into the popular RE series – Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. The game is now out in North America for the PS3 and Xbox 360, while its European launch is scheduled for March 23, 2012. It will be outed for PC on May 18.

Resident Evil: ORC 1

This collaboration between Capcom and Slant Six Games, is said to take the series in a completely new direction. It renders gamers with a third person team based shooter experience which takes place in the dark and sinister Resident Evil universe. The story is a reinterpretation of the events that transpired in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. Gamers will play as members of the Umbrella Security Service, and will be up against an opposing squad as well zombies and Bio-Organic Weapons (B.O.W’s). Fan favorite character, Leon S. Kennedy will also be seen within the story.

In the single player campaign, players will be attempting to destroy all evidence of Umbrella’s involvement in the t-Virus outbreak, while facing strong opposition from a U.S. Spec-Ops team. An online competitive multiplayer component will also form a part of this game, providing eight-player team versus battles in four different modes. Exclusive to the Xbox 360 version is an additional versus mode called Nemesis, which is now purchasable through Xbox Live at 320 Microsoft Points. A free Spec-Ops mission involving Jill Valentine will also be dished out by Capcom on April 10 via PSN and Xbox Live.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City can now be purchased in North America for the PS3 and Xbox 360 at a price of 59.99 USD (approx. Rs. 3,025).
