Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City to get Free Spec-Ops DLC in April

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is yet to reach its March 20 release date, but a free Spec-Ops DLC for the game has already been announced by Capcom. While the single-player campaign from this title will allow gamers to play as squad members of the Umbrella Security Service, the new DLC will give them a chance to be on the other side of the fight by placing them in the shoes of the Spec-Ops team.

The free mission will also contain a recreation of the scene where Jill Valentine is faced with the task of escaping the rampaging Nemesis. Thus, this mission provides gamers the opportunity to play as new characters, while also showing them a glimpse of what took place in Resident Evil 3. The official Capcom-Unity blog has published details about the six Spec-Ops soldiers who fans will be able to play as.

Brett Elston, Online/Community Manager at Capcom-Unity, wrote on the blog, “Thanks to the campaign story, we get to spend some time with the USS and, even though they’re technically the bad guys, relate to them on some level. But what about those Spec-Ops folks? Well, they’re going to be playable in a free DLC mission coming April 10 to Xbox 360 and PS3, one that just so happens to revisit an important moment from Resident Evil 3.”

Dee-ay, Harley, Party Girl, Shona, Tweed and Willow are the names of these characters who will also be seen in the single-players portion of the game, but won’t be playable there. The multiplayer component in Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will feature a three-sided affair as U.S.S. members, Spec-Ops soldiers as well as zombies and BOWs will all be thrown into the mix (as can be seen in the above trailer).
