Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City Detailed

A ‘true third-person team-based shooter experience’ is apparently on offer to gamers who purchase Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City upon its release next year. Zombies and Bio-Organic Weapons (B.O.W.s) will form a part of this game so as to deliver a supposedly new style of gameplay that is somewhat different from traditional third person shooters.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City transpires in 1998. The Umbrella Corporation has learnt that one of its scientists Dr. William Birkin, plans to sell the experimental G-Virus to the US Government. To avoid that from happening they send an elite team of Umbrella Security Service (U.S.S.) soldiers led by Hunk into their secret research facility to secure the only known sample of the virus.

It is then that Birkin injects himself with the last sample, thus transforming into a ‘deadly’ creature and overpowering the team. The series’ much talked about Raccoon City outbreak takes place when during the battle against Berkin, the ‘t-Virus’ is leaked into the sewers. It spreads through the whole of Raccoon City, infecting everyone in its path.

To cover its involvement, Umbrella deploys another team to take care of the situation. Subsequently, a U.S. Government team also gets into the picture. This complicates the circumstances and puts rookie police officers Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield in turmoil. The game will allow players to select from six U.S.S characters with each of them having their own skill set and roles.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is slated to release in North America for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on March 20, 2012. It can currently be pre-ordered from retailers at a price of 59.99 USD (approx. Rs. 2,925).
