Ratchet & Clank Collection Set to Release Later This Year

This year marks the celebration of a decade since the first game in the series was released, and what better way for Insomniac Games to celebrate the occasion than with the launch of the Ratchet & Clank Collection. This set of three games will be outed in Europe during May, but it won’t be launched in North America until the fall of 2012.

A post on the official PlayStation blog has pointed out that there’s ”˜something very special’ in store for North American fans during the tenth anniversary celebrations of Ratchet & Clank. The collection will include re-mastered versions of the original game as well as R&C: Going Commando and R&C: Up Your Arsenal, all three of which have been upscaled by Idol Minds. These titles will render themselves in full 1080p HD and will include three platinum trophies as well.

“We’re so excited that PlayStation has worked to give our original Ratchet & Clank PS2 adventures the HD remaster treatment they deserve. Stay tuned in the coming months for more on the Ratchet & Clank 10th Anniversary Celebration, as well as more details, screenshots and footage as we near the release of the Ratchet & Clank Collection,” wrote Ted Price, CEO, Insomniac Games, on the blog.

Moreover, the competitive multiplayer feature from Up Your Arsenal will also be making its way into the collection. Upon its release in 2004, this game was the first in the series to proffer online offerings on the PS2. The other two games ”“ Ratchet & Clank and R&C: Going Commando were launched in 2002 and 2003, respectively.

The Ratchet & Clank Collection will be outed in North America during the fall of 2012, but it’ll be released in Europe as early as May. It can be pre-ordered currently through various retailers at a price of 39.99 USD (approx. Rs. 2,015).
