Earlier scheduled to be outed in March this year, Rockstar Games’ much awaited Max Payne 3 will now be launched on May 15, 2012 in North America and May 18 internationally. No particular reason for this delay has come to the fore, but publisher Take-Two Interactive has mentioned that this rescheduling will help them deliver the game in its highest quality.
The third title in the extremely popular Max Payne franchise is claimed by its developer to offer precise and fluid gunplay, while also maintaining the series’ dark and cinematic setting. The story has former New York detective, Payne, cleaning out the streets of Sao Paulo, Brazil, where he’s working in executive protection for the wealthy Rodrigo Branco. While he’s trying to escape the memories of his troubled past, a street gang kidnaps Rodrigo’s wife and this puts Max in the middle of a conspiracy between warring factions.
Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games, revealed, “Max Payne 3 brings powerful storytelling back to the action-shooter genre. Rockstar Studios are delivering a game that’s both incredibly cinematic and very, very intense to play.”
A first for the series is the addition of online multiplayer offerings. New as well as traditional multiplayer modes that will apparently feature themes of paranoia, betrayal and heroism will be seen making their way into this game. Moreover, they will all be rendered in the same visual style of the single-player campaign. A recent contest organized by Rockstar Games entitled participating gamers to a chance to have their faces featured on the eight gang characters in this game’s multiplayer section.
Max Payne 3 will be launched for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on May 15 in North America, while its international release is planned to take place on May 18. It can be pre-ordered currently at a price of 59.99 USD (approx. Rs. 3,040).
