Unlocking Catwoman in Batman: Arkham City Would Require Online Pass

Publisher Warner Bros. has confirmed that gamers who purchase the highly anticipated Batman: Arkham City will be able to unlock the Catwoman character only by using their VIP online pass. This means that those who borrow their copies from friends would be required to purchase an online pass so as to play the additional Catwoman missions.

Earlier, Eurogamer had reportedly received this news from a ‘verified’ source, but it was only yesterday that a statement was issued by Warner Bros. confirming it. Batman: Arkham City’s VIP pass is said to unlock four story scenes that feature Catwoman as a playable character. Moreover, it will also unlock the character as a playable in challenge mode (called Riddler’s Revenge).

“Further to your story, players who purchase previously owned copies of Batman: Arkham City can access the playable Catwoman content for £7.99/ 800 Microsoft Points. Playing as Catwoman is not required to complete the game,” Warner Bros. appears to have told the website.

Catwoman would still appear in the game as part of the story, but her additional missions will however remain locked. Meanwhile, the title’s publisher also announced a Nightwing bundle pack for Batman: Arkham City, which is to be made available on November 1. It will include the character with its own gadgets and special moves besides two additional challenge maps. Moreover, as announced earlier, the Robin bundle pack will also make its way into the game on November 22.

The requirement of an online pass for accessing the Catwoman character in Batman: Arkham City does not come as a surprise even as all the big releases these days are adopting the same strategy. The VIP pass for the game is reported to cost 7.99 Pounds (approx Rs. 603) for the PS3 and 800 Microsoft Points for the Xbox 360.
