Mafia II is the next game in the brutal franchise and recently we reported that the game’s street dates had been set. Now we have word that 2K Games has announced the Mafia II Collector’s Edition for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, and free downloadable content for Mafia II pre-orders from select UK retailers. There will apparently be three versions of the Mafia II Collector’s Edition available in limited quantities at select UK retailers as well as internationally. All versions will contain both physical as well as digital elements to enhance the mobster crime drama experience.
“The first Mafia title was a critical success, and we are excited to deliver an epic sequel to fans of the game and of Mafia entertainment,” remarked Christoph Hartmann, president, 2K. “By offering downloadable content and special editions of Mafia II, we are able to show our appreciation for those guys wise enough to reserve their copies early.”
The Mafia II Collector’s Edition will include a collectible SteelBook casing, a hardcover art book, the Mafia II orchestral soundtrack, a map of Empire Bay, and the ‘Made Man’ pack, in addition to a copy of the game. The SteelBook casing comes with a debossed logo with two pieces of art featuring Vito and Joe, while the ‘Made Man’ pack offers players free access to an in-game downloadable pack featuring two luxury automobiles modeled after cars from the era as well as two new “made man” suits.
Mafia II is in development for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC with 2K Czech and is scheduled to release to UK gamers on August 27, 2010.
