THQ Announces Costume Quest on XBLA and PSN

Following the frenetics of Psychonauts and Brutal Legend, Double Fine’s Tim Schafer and his team are brewing up yet another frolicking adventure under its machines. Published by THQ and developed by Double Fine Productions, Costume Quest is a comically fascinating adventure RPG now offered for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Game designer Tim Schafer parted ways with LucasArts in 2000 and went on to establish his own production studio named Double Fine Productions soon after his departure. Five years into development the studio produced an acclaimed platformer Psychonauts and later on released a hybrid RTS-adventure game named Brutal Legend, four years after their first independent release in 2005.

“We are thrilled to add Costume Quest to our downloadable games portfolio,” announced Martin Good, Executive Vice President, THQ Kids, Family, Casual Games, and Global Online Services. “Costume Quest is a game that represents our focus and determination to deliver quality games across a variety of digital distribution platforms.”

Venturing into a scary and an almost amusing gist, Costume Quest is claimed to be the first of its kind that released digitally by the production studio. Sprouting from the mind of Double Fine’s project lead Tasha Harris, this downloadable title is an adventure role playing game unfurling as players knock doors trick-or-treating on the night of Halloween.

“We are extremely excited here at Double Fine to be releasing our first downloadable game,” appended Tim Schafer, founder & CEO of Double Fine Productions. “Costume Quest is an awesome start and a great sign of things to come from Double Fine and THQ.”

Engaging in intuitive turn-based battles while being out on a quest to find the lost sibling, players in Costume Quest encounter creepy mobs around the neighborhood and take plenty pleasure in exterminating them. Gamers delve through a monster-infested shopping mall, a mysterious carnival and a seemingly peaceful suburban neighborhood gathering points, cards, candies, battle stamps and quests. Meanwhile, they can convert into extra-ordinarily huge versions of their costumes, each of them with their own exclusive superpowers, to unleash their cutesy furies upon Halloween’s monsters.

Costume Quest bundles for a price of 1200 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360 on XBLA and 14.99 USD (approx. Rs. 667) on PSN for PS3.
