Some weeks ago, THQ delighted Red Faction fans by announcing its deal with Syfy to develop a new title in the series dubbed Origins. Now, the company has registered a new domain name titled Redfactionbattlegrounds.com, sparking rumors about another new game in the series.
According to GameSpot, this title can possibly be a new arcade game which could reach gamers via Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. Rumored to be a prequel of the yet-to-be released Red Faction: Armageddon, there are no details available about either about the website or a new game. In addition, the company has not yet released an official statement on this subject.
With such little information at hand, it is difficult to make out whether the domain has been registered for a new game or not. For now, we will just have to wait for official word from THQ about the new domain. So until then, gamers can keep guessing about the various possibilities.
The officially announced new chapter in the Red Faction series, Armageddon, is said to be a sequel to the previous third person shooter Guerrilla. This title is expected to arrive in March 2011.
