THQ last month announced that Red Faction: Armageddon is scheduled to release by March next year. The company is back in the news as it enters into a transmedia deal with Syfy to debut Red Faction: Origins (working title).
The offering in question here is a two hour live-action movie pilot which follows the lineage of rebel hero Alec and the Mason family. The events are set between Red Faction: Guerrilla game and the forthcoming Red Faction: Armageddon title. The screenplay of Red Faction: Origins is penned by acclaimed writer and producer Andrew Kreisberg and is based on the storyline fashioned by Paul DeMeo THQ Director, Fiction Development. The production of the movie is scheduled to be managed by Universal Cable Productions.

Red Faction: Origins takes place quarter of a century after Alec Mason led the Martian Colonies to freedom. It has also been ten years since foes killed his beloved wife and captured his daughter Lyra. Jake Mason, a ranger in the Red Faction Militia and Alec’s only surviving son has now found out that his sister who he previously presumed dead has now become a cold-blooded soldier out to get the Red Faction.
Red Faction: Origins is slated to air on Syfy by March 2011.
