Red Faction: Guerilla was something of a sleeper hit. And now THQ has announced that the next title in the award-winning Red Faction series, entitled Red Faction: Armageddon, is in development at Volition. The game is scheduled to ship for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC sometime in March 2011.
The game is set beneath the surface of Mars as the fate of the red planet hangs agonizingly in the balance. An extremely great evil threatens to extinguish all life on the planet and as Darius Mason, players fight to save humanity.
Red Faction: Armageddon leverages Volition’s exceptional Geo-Mod 2.0 technology to deliver what the company claims as “never-before-seen physics-based weaponry” set to redefine gameplay in the shooter genre. Players will have at their disposal new strategic options such as reconstruction technology and the Magnet Gun, and find themselves on a new stage for epic battles in both single-player as well as co-operative multiplayer modes.
About half a century after the Red Faction resistance frees Mars, the planet becomes a battleground once again as Darius Mason unknowingly releases an evil long-dormant. Now only Darius, grandson of Alex Mason and Samanya, and the Red Faction can save mankind.
