Portal first caught the fancy of gamers back in 2007. This single player game is packed with action and puzzle elements and offers players hours of unique gameplay. They have to unravel physical challenges and puzzles by opening portals and maneuvering objects through space.
The game gathered quite a fan following when it unveiled some years back that developer and publisher Valve has now planned a sequel. The company now reveals that Portal 2 would begin shipping by this holiday season. 2007 Portal was reportedly Game of the Year and was also bestowed with more than 70 industry achievement awards.
Valve is the company responsible for belting out acclaimed game franchises like Counter-Strike, Half-Life and Left 4 Dead. It is also the creators of leading technologies like Source and Steam. Portal was actually shown as a project formulated by a group of university students. The company liked the concept and hence decided to make it into a full fledged game. This title was however packed with four other games in one single Orange Box offering.
No word yet on the exact availability or pricing details of the Portal sequel.
