Bionic Commando Sequel Already in the Works?

The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Bionic Commando are due to ship to North American and European retailers within the week and to Japanese stores sometime next week. Now Destructoid is reporting that, even before the game hits stores across the world, a bit of Morse code in the reviewer’s version of the game, suggests a Bionic Commando sequel.

The Morse code in the game when translated into readable text spells out a message in German, “Bestaetige Ausfuehrung von Phase Zwei Vorbereitet Aktiviere Projeckt Albatross.” This roughly translated, comes out to be, “Confirm the Implementation of Phase Two Project Prepared Active Albatross.”

In the NES version of Bionic Commando, which was released in 1988, Project Albatross was aimed at resurrecting Master-D (or Hitler in the Japanese version), who was the last boss in the game. And with no apparent appearance of Master-D in the new Bionic Commando, it seems that Capcom has slipped in news of a sequel to the game. Also, the company is expected to announce two games at this year’s E3.
