Ultima Online: Stygian Abyss to release in September

Ultima Online is the massively multiplayer online role playing game from Mythic Entertainment. The game has seen seven expansions and is awaiting the release of an eighth. Recently we reported that the seventh expansion, Mondain’s Legacy was available for free. Now we have word that Ultima Online: Stygian Abyss, the eighth expansion to the game, will be released this September.

The expansion will be available only via digital download, and focuses on a new playable Gargoyle race. Also included will be vast expansive new areas to explore, like the Stygian Abyss and Ter Mur. The Stygian Abyss dungeon is the largest ever in the world of Ultima Online, and will house some of the most difficult boss monsters including the Primeval Lich, the Stygian Dragon and the Medusa.

“As the 12th anniversary of the storied Ultima Online franchise approaches this fall, we could not be more excited to launch UO’s 8th expansion, Stygian Abyss,” remarked Jeff Hickman, Executive Producer for Mythic Entertainment. “On September 8th UO players past and present will be able to experience all new content, including the new Gargoyle race and one of the largest dungeons in UO history.”

Those who already subscribe to Ultima Online can take part in the open beta from Friday, August 12, 2009 to Sunday, August 23, 2009. Ultima Online: Stygian Abyss will be available starting from September 8, 2009 from the official Ultima Online Games Codes website and from the EA Store.

The Stygian Abyss expansion will be available for 29.99 USD (approx. Rs. 1,445) and the Stygian Abyss expansion along with 30 day game time will be available for 39.99 USD (approx. Rs. 1,925). Fans who purchase the eighth expansion between September 8 and September 29, 2009 will receive an exclusive gargoyle craftable pet, decorative Stygian Abyss mob boss statues and a multi-use Alteration Token, with which they can transform their characters into Gargoyles.
