The Walking Dead First-Person Shooter Coming in 2013

Not to be mistaken for Telltale Games’ ongoing five-episode game stint with the series, The Walking Dead first-person shooter is a completely new title announced by Activision to be headed for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in 2013. It will be developed by Terminal Reality, the studio responsible for Ghostbusters: The Video Game and Kinect Star Wars amongst others.

The Walking Dead

Described as a first-person action game, this title will be set before the first season of the hit TV show. It will tell the story of Daryl Dixon and his brother Merle, who’re on their way to find safety in Atlanta, like everyone else. Gamers will assume the role of Daryl, and strive to stay away from zombies that hunt using sight, sound and smell. They will even be able to choose between fighting them or using stealth tactics to prevent being detected.

IGN has official information about the game, and tells us that it will feature scarce supplies, asking players to carefully manage food, ammunition and other amenities. ‘A slew’ of characters will be accompanying Daryl in the story, either helping or hurting him. A decision system will also be in place, providing players with the liberty to select which characters will accompany them in their fights for survival.

This series is based on Robert Kirkman’s comic book franchise which was launched in 2003. AMC’s TV show based on it first aired in October 2010, and is all set to premiere its third season in October this year. The Walking Dead first-person shooter will be out only in 2013 for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
