Assassin’s Creed Unity will run in 900p at 30fps on PS4 and Xbox One

The upcoming Assassin’s Creed Unity has been revealed by its producer to have been locked in 900p resolution at 30fps on both the PS4 and Xbox One. Vincent Pontbriand from Ubisoft said that this has been done in order to avoid the usual debates that ensue between owners of both the consoles. However, Ubisoft has been quick to issue a statement claiming otherwise, and saying that his quotes have been misinterpreted.

Assassin's Creed Unity

It all started when senior producer at Ubisoft Montreal, Vincent Pontbriand told VideoGamer.com in an interview that both versions of Assassin’s Creed Unity have been graphically locked at the same specs so as to ‘avoid all the debates and stuff.’ He also explained that technically, it’s the consoles’ CPUs and not the GPUs that are responsible for this downscaling, and that it’s the game’s AI system that has forced them in doing so.

Following the revelation that Assassin’s Creed Unity has been capped at 900p resolution at 30fps on both the gaming systems, fan outcry started pouring in from all over. This forced Ubisoft to issue a statement which has been brought to our notice by Kotaku. While claiming that Pontbriand’s ‘quotes have been misinterpreted,’ the company made it clear that it has not lowered the specs of the game in order to ‘account for any one system over the other.’

Whatever the story, the truth remains; Assassin’s Creed Unity will run in 900p at 30fps on both the PS4 and the Xbox One. Those with capable PCs however, will be able to get the ultimate experience. The game is set to be release for all three platforms on November 11.
