American Nightmare, as described by its maker, transpires in a setting where the horrors of reality often seem to come true. This time around, the title character finds himself in the alternate shadowed world of Night Springs, where he must track down his mysterious evil doppelganger named Mr. Scratch to get answers from him. Being a supernatural serial killer, Scratch is obsessed with Wake’s wife, Alice and even more terribly, Alan’s demise.

“With Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, we wanted to challenge the conventions of what makes an Xbox Live Arcade title,” revealed Matias Myllyrinne, CEO of Remedy. “The game is a combination of pick-up-and-play arcade action that players expect out of an Xbox Live Arcade title, as well as a substantial pulp inspired single-player campaign that Remedy is known for.”
