Xbox Live Entertainment Apps Unlocked for Free Use This Weekend

Xbox Live account holders who don’t possess Gold memberships will be able to dive into the entertainment apps on the service for a limited period of time during this weekend. From Thursday, April 19 up to Monday, April 23, as part of a special promotion, everybody will be able to use apps like CinemaNow, Netflix3, YouTube and more.

The list of unlocked apps is supposed to vary with regions. For the US territories, Crackle, Dailymotion, EPIX4, ESPN, HBO GO, Hulu Plus2, iHeartRadio, Last.fm, MSN, Syfy, TMZ, TODAY, UFC, Verizon, VEVO, Vudu, Xfinity TV on Demand as well as the apps we’ve mentioned above will be made available for free. The list of each different region can be checked out by gamers on their Xbox 360 dashboards.

“If you haven’t had the chance to check out the latest entertainment apps on Xbox 360, now is a great time because Xbox is unlocking their Xbox Live subscription service from Thursday, April 19 through Monday, April 23 – no Xbox Live Gold membership required for this time. Through this special promotion, anybody with an Xbox will be able to use and enjoy all of the customized entertainment app experiences featured on the Xbox Live service,” read a post on the official Major Nelson blog.

In addition to this, applications like Hulu Plus2, Netflix3 and EPIX4 will all be offered with free trials to new users throughout the entire period of this promotion. All these services are usually accessible only if gamers purchase the paid Gold subscriptions which also allow them to play games online.

As we’ve mentioned above, this unlocking of the Xbox Live entertainment apps will come into effect from April 19 and will end on April 23.
