Microsoft Inside Xbox hits a dead end in the US, Canada

It looks like gamers might have to refer to third party sources for news and interviews as Microsoft has made its plans of killing the Inside Xbox video newsletter service public. This change is said to affect users in the US as well as Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Inside Xbox Discontinued

Video content and weekly programming that are featured on the service will no longer be produced in US. They include shows such as Major’s Minute, Featured Videos and Insider Moves. On the bright side, Microsoft plans on making third-party news and videos available through current and possibly future partners.

“We will be leveraging third-party news and video content available through a variety of existing and future partners, and supplementing this content with select first-party offerings. However, day-to-day news content and weekly programming currently offered though Inside Xbox will cease production in the United States. This includes shows like Major’s Minute, Featured Videos and Insider Moves packaged under the Inside Xbox brand,” states Larry Hryb, Xbox Live’s Major Nelson.

Gamers in Mexico and Japan should have access to first-party content via media outside of the brand. Major Nelson also states that he will continue to carry out the ‘work always done’ with no changes on that front, although weekly videos for Inside Xbox will be discontinued.

As earlier noted, Inside Xbox will cease to operate in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, while some changes might take place to the service in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. However, there doesn’t seem to be any concrete information as of now.
