Dead Island Avatar Items Set to Enter Xbox Live

Deep Silver, developer of the upcoming zombie action adventure game Dead Island, announced recently that themed avatar items of the title will be made available to Xbox Live users this September. These include avatars of the four main characters from the game as well as apparel and props marked with Dead Island artwork.

Gamers can dress their Xbox Live characters in four different outfits which have been derived from the protagonists in the game. They include Xian Mei, a former Hong Kong police officer who is a weapons expert and an ex-football star named Logan who used to be an all-rounder in the team and a throwing expert. The third character is Sam B, a one-hit rap wonder, whereas the fourth one is a professional bodyguard named Purna. Additional avatar items comprise of a paddle, a beach ball, a towel, t-shirts and more.

The game is currently making its presence felt on the PS Home screens of PS3 users. This is part of the title’s Total Game Integration campaign which adds mini-games to the Home screen so as to give users an opportunity to unlock content for the final game. The campaign also offers players a chance to click pictures with the zombies from the game. Those users who succeed in completing all the mini-game challenges will get an Exploding Meat weapon for use in the actual game.

The Dead Island avatar items will be made available to fans in the ‘beginning’ of September. The game is slated to release next month for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. It can currently be pre-ordered from major retailers. The console versions cost 59.99 USD (approx. Rs. 2,762) while the PC version is priced at 49.99 USD (approx. Rs. 2,301).
