Dead Island to Plague PlayStation Home

Zombies from the much anticipated Dead Island for PS3 are all set to ravage PlayStation Home screens ahead of the game’s release this September. As a part of the unique Total Game Integration campaign, the Home Square of PS3 users will be themed around the game. At the same time, minigames will also be available, enabling them to unlock in-game content.

The zombie-filled Royal Palms Resort which is where the story of the game takes place will be portrayed on the Home Squares. Players can also experience a minigame which puts forward different challenges, completing all of which would unlock an exclusive in-game ‘Exploding Meat’ weapon for the actual game. The minigame supports four gamers at a time and requires them to create weapons and fight with them against zombie hordes.

Players will also be able to take pictures along with the zombies. A Facebook-like ‘zombie survival survey’ will rate their chances of surviving a zombie apocalypse while also unlocking 4 PlayStation Home items. The Home Square will also a feature a themed kiosk from where users can pre-order the game. These customers would be rewarded with an Exploding Zombie Outfit for their avatar.

Developed by Techland, Dead Island is an open world horror action adventure game which transpires in a hotel named Palms Resort, situated in Banoi off the coast of Papua New Guinea. It will mainly feature melee combat, customizable weapons and vehicle as well as RPG elements. Four playable characters will be included in the game.

Dead Island is scheduled to hit markets in September this year for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, while the PlayStation Home integration is supposed to take place ‘shortly before its release.’
