Class3 to be Powered by CryEngine 3

Undead Labs’ upcoming Xbox Live title Class3 may have a long way to go before its release, but developers have decided to unveil some early screens of the game in order to demonstrate its CryEngine 3 driven graphics. Keeping in mind that it’s an Xbox Live title, this zombie ‘survival simulator’ shows considerable potential with its graphics, if the screens are anything to go by.

Not too long ago, Doug Williams, Art Director at Undead Labs revealed on the developer’s website that the game will feature an environment described by him as ‘Faded Americana.’ This concept emerges from Doug’s childhood which was spent in a small town in America. Even at such an early stage, the folks over at Undead Labs seem to be confident about transforming the ‘Faded Americana’ concept into a full-fledged gaming environment.

Founder and Executive Producer, Undead Labs, Jeff Strain, shared on the website, “Today we’re happy to announce that Class3 will be powered by the awesome CryEngine 3. The state-of-the-art engine has a well-deserved reputation for providing the graphics horsepower to create gorgeous games, and we’re squeezing it for all it’s worth to bring Doug’s ‘Faded Americana’ vision for Class3 to life. With the cutting-edge technology of CryEngine 3, combined with the experience and talent of our own Team Zed artists, we think we’re getting awfully damn close to achieving Doug’s vision, even at this early stage of development.”

One of this year’s major releases, Crysis 2 was apparently one of the first games to be equipped with CryEngine 3 and has managed to deliver a substantial quality of graphics. Another game named Tour Golf Online has also been confirmed to feature the engine. This free-to-play online title is expected to be made available to gamers by GamesCampus and OnNet in 2012.

However, no visuals of zombies have been featured in the screens of Class3 which goes on to indicate that this CryEngine 3 based simulator really is in its early stages.
