Rocky & Bullwinkle, Battlezone Hit the XBLA

Though it regularly updates the XBLA, Microsoft releases party games once in a while. This week, they have put Battlezone as well as Rocky and Bullwinkle on the Xbox Live Arcade. The former is a action game, the latter, a party game.

Here are some details about the games on XBLA:

First up, we have Rocky & Bullwinkle, a fast and fun party title that is based on the popular cartoon series of the sixties and is packed with more than 100 micro games. The game features Rocky, Bullwinkle, Boris, Natasha, Dudley Do-Right along with other characters from Frostbite Falls.

Rocky & Bullwinkle has five difficulty settings and support for up to twelve players in local hot-seat mode. Also, the retro art styled game has twenty-five micro games, which work with the Xbox Live Vision Camera. Gamers can control the actions in the game by expressing gestures as well as moving around, for example, throwing darts or rowing a boat.

Then we have Battlezone, an improved version of the tank vs. tank action classic. The XBLA version has multiplayer modes for up to two players, both locally and over Xbox Live. There is the Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag and the gamers can challenge opponents using the Xbox Live Vision Camera.

Battlezone has new special effects for weapon firing, impacts and explosions. Gamers garner points by shooting and destroying the enemy’s brigade that includes a standard enemy tank, supertank as well as a flying saucer

Rocky & Bullwinkle has been developed by Zen Studios and will come with a price tag of 800 Microsoft Points. Battlezone has been made by Atari and costs 400 Microsoft Points. Both these games are now available worldwide, but Battlezone is not available in Japan and Korea.
