Age of Empires 4 players have finally been granted season 2 content, with the new additions all set to enhance their gaming experience. With this latest update, the game gets a special event, a new map, and a number of new quality-of-life changes.
The first of the two planned events for season 2 of Age of Empires 4 is called Age of Discovery and involves completing a number of tasks for winning unique items. One more big addition to the game is the ability to choose map preferences for quick matches and ranked multiplayer games. This particular system will enable players to downvote maps, so the one with the least downvotes will be selected.
The new map that has been introduced by this update is called The Pit. It’s an open map that features a stealth forest-filled valley that’s home to 3 Sacred Sites. A new color picker option in Single Player Skirmish, Multiplayer Custom Match, Unranked Automatch, and Ranked Automatch modes allows you to choose a color for your civilization.
Apart from all this, the season 2 update for Age of Empires 4 even brings with it the ability to remap hotkeys and rotate and zoom the camera in newer ways. This, the developers hope, will “provide a grander vantage point on the battlefield and a more holistic view of the base.”
Age of Empires 4 was launched in October last year for PC gamers. It’s set in the Early Middle Ages to the High Middle Ages. Its single-player campaigns during its launch included the Norman conquest of England, The Hundred Years’ War, The Mongol Empire, and the rise of the Grand Duchy of Moscow.
Season 2 of Age of Empires 4 is now live and can be downloaded as a free update to the game.
