UFC Undisputed 3 Cover Athlete to be Chosen Via Voting Campaign

Describing it as a ‘franchise-first opportunity’ for consumers, THQ and UFC announced recently that results of a voting campaign on the game’s website would decide which athlete will feature on the cover of UFC Undisputed 3. Fans can choose from a total of five athletes by voting for them between 6:00 a.m. PT on August 26, 2011 and 12:00 p.m. PT on September 30, 2011.

The five UFC fighters include UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar, UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez. Those who caste the votes on the game’s website will automatically be entered in a sweepstakes to win tickets for a future UFC live event.

“Letting fans vote for the UFC Undisputed 3 cover athlete is a unique way for us to connect with our extensive worldwide audience of UFC fans, fighting game enthusiasts and more casual sports followers. We look forward to seeing if Jon Jones, Anderson Silva, Georges St-Pierre or Cain Velasquez has what it takes to grace the cover of what will be the most invigorating MMA videogame release to date,” explained, Danny Bilson, Executive Vice President, Core Games, THQ.

This sweepstakes is open only to legal residents of the 50 United States, District of Columbia and Canada (excluding Quebec) who are 21 years of age or older. Fans wanting to enter are not required to make any purchase. Entry to the contest is limited to one person per e-mail address.

The voting campaign for selecting the cover athlete of UFC Undisputed 3 is valid from August 26, 2011 to September 30, 2011. The title is slated to release early next year for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Its pre-order copy is currently priced at 59.99 USD (approx Rs. 2,768) for both the console versions.
