Sega Announces London 2012 – The Official Video Game of the Olympic Games

Sega Europe and America announced the development of its new game based on the Olympics 2012. The game titled London 2012 – The Official Video Game of the Olympic Games will be available in stores next year. It is said to be published under the joint venture of Sega and International Sports Multimedia (ISM) which is the exclusive licensee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

London 2012 will allow players to experience the real rush that a sportsman representing his country goes through. Players can anticipate participating in more than 30 sporting events. As part of the gameplay, players also get a chance to bag gold medals for their country. They can compete online with online leaderboards.

“The London 2012 Olympic Games is sure to be a once in a lifetime experience for many people,” mentioned Senior Vice President of Marketing at Sega Europe and Sega of America, Gary Knight .

“London 2012 looks set to be our best ever release in the Olympic Games simulation franchise in terms of both sales and number and quality of events,” commented Raymond Goldsmith, Chairman and CEO of ISM, who seems to be happy with the game. “We are delighted to be working once again with Sega to ensure we will achieve this historic milestone.”

The game is under development at the newly rebranded Sega Studios, Australia. Its programming at the Brisbane based studio should make the most of the ‘state of the art motion capture facility’ that has helped developers with motion capture.
