THQ Unearths Metro: Last Light

We know very little about THQ’s next project with Turtle Rock Studios but its collaboration with 4A Games is not something new. Following last year’s hit Metro 2033, the companies are now working on a sequel to help us unravel the life in post-apocalyptic Moscow. THQ has announced Metro: Last Light for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Metro: Last Light

Depicting a picture of 2034, the game will let players step into the shoes of Artyom yet again to save humanity in the midst of a deadly civil war. They will be required to establish control over a ‘doomsday device’ for preventing another disaster as the human race faces an extreme threat of extinction. Gamers can discover dilapidated and ravaged tunnels of the city through single player and multiplayer campaigns.

“We believe that Metro 2033 was a flawed masterpiece,” remarked Danny Bilson, EVP Core Games, THQ. “It was a beautiful, original game that didn’t get the marketing support it needed. We won’t make that mistake with Metro: Last Light. This game improves on the original in every way – it will have more polish, deeper and more sophisticated gameplay, and satisfyingly visceral combat, without losing what our fans loved about the original. Metro: Last Light is another artful piece of game development from an Eastern European studio that will thrill and terrify anyone looking for a more cerebral experience than your typical first person shooter.”

Touted to bring a horrific single player journey shrouded by detailed environments, the title will extend new exploration and survival horror quests. The included 4A Engine technology has engineered the in-game lighting and physics for accurately portraying the oncoming destruction through the title’s varied campaign modes.

Metro: Last Light has been slated to release next year for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. More details about the title are expected to be unveiled at this month’s E3 convention to be held in Los Angeles.
