Electronic Arts has seen a lot of success with Fight Night Round 4, and some time ago the gaming giant had announced a new type of game based on mixed martial arts. Earlier we reported that Randy Couture and Fedor Emelianenko had been announced to headline the title. Now Electronic Arts has announced that ‘Strikeforce’, a world-class mixed martial arts fight promotion is to be featured in the upcoming EA Sports MMA video game, as a premier league.

EA also revealed that Brett Rogers and Jake Shields would be joining the roster of fighters in the game, which will now incorporate the Strikeforce cage and the league’s commentary team of Mauro Ranallo and Frank Shamrock, plus ring announcer Jimmy Lennon Jr.
“We are honored that EA Sports has selected Strikeforce to serve as a premier league in its forthcoming MMA title,” Strikeforce President Scott Coker remarked. “EA Sports has long been recognized by gamers as a highly innovative, ground breaking provider of sports gaming entertainment. We are confident that EA Sports MMA will function as a great ambassador for Strikeforce’s fighters and effectively promote our sport to a new audience as well as to longtime fight fans.”
“We are very excited to be working with Strikeforce and feature them as a premier league in our game,” Executive Producer Dale Jackson exclaimed. “They have a wealth of mixed martial arts expertise, put on great shows and have a great stable of top-notch fighters. Together we look forward to growing the sport and delivering an immersive interactive gaming experience.”
EA Sports MMA is to feature a high level of authenticity, delivering an intense and broad mixed martial arts experience, complete with a wide roster of top fighters and fighting styles from all over the world. The game will be available for the Xbox 360 and PS3 systems in 2010.
