Nintendo Fan Network Being Tested for DS

One of the most irritating things when you go to see a match at the stadium is when you miss an important part of it. However, all that is about to change as Nintendo is testing the Fan Network for their handheld console, the DS at Seattle’s Mariners’ baseball stadium.

Nintendo DS Fan Network

It will enable sports fans to download a program on the Nintendo DS, which would allow them to order food, beverages, watch highlights and get trivia and statistics of the match being played. J.C. Smith is the corporate affairs manager of Nintendo. He says, “It’s been a work in progress. Once we created the technology of the DS, we started looking at other applications to use its wireless features. The program system became so popular, so we hunted other ways to make this a fun system for people to have.”

To download the program, users have to take their DS to the kiosks that are placed in the stadium. However, the only catch is that the users will have to pay a fee of $5 (approx. Rs. 200) for the software, which has to be downloaded every time they go to see a match. Earlier such kind of technology was used for the PSP in the UK. Nintendo’s Fan Network seems more interesting. But the only weak point is the price as users, particularly the ones who have season tickets, could find the cost a little expensive.
