Jak and Daxter Collection release date for PS Vita to fall in June

The Jak and Daxter Collection release date for the PS Vita has been revealed to have been slated for sometime this June through a post on the official PlayStation blog. This news was preceded by a number of leaks about this set for the said handheld console, but Sony has finally gone official, having confirmed its existence. This compilation which had been made available for the PS3 early last year, will be ported to the Vita, complete with support for touch-based controls as well as Trophies which are not shared with the home console version.

This means that players will be able to earn at least three more Platinums via this anthology. Apart from these, fans can rest assured that high-definition graphics will also form part of the whole offering. Positioned at a modest 29.99 USD (approx. Rs. 1,625), this compilation of the three classics from famed developer, Naughty Dog, is all set to grant Vita-owners a chance to experience the platforming brilliance of the these titles which had originally been released exclusively for the PS2, albeit with enhanced visuals that won’t give away their age.

Rumors surrounding its existence for the said portable device had surfaced back in March this year, when ESRB ratings for the same were spotted. This had got fans excited, and now, with Sony’s official word on the matter, they have breathed a huge sigh of relief. Although June has been disclosed to be the month in which it will be launched, no concrete date has been put forth.

The set will contain enhanced ports of the first three games from the series. First among them is The Precursor Legacy, which had come out in 2001, and had garnered enough popularity for Sony to be propelled to let out a sequel titled Jak II in 2003. And then in 2004, we saw the third main iteration of the franchise head out, and grab much critical acclaim. The years that followed, have seen three spin-offs as well, but they haven’t been included in the set.
