PS Vita Preps Up for PS one Classics with new System Software Update

PlayStation aficionados have been waiting forever to see the promised PS one Classics on their PS Vita systems, and this week will finally see these titles being launched for the device. To be able to play these them, gamers will need to download and install a new system software update, dubbed v1.80.

A total of nine classics have been confirmed by Sony to be made available today on the PS Store. These include Arc the Lad, Cool Boarders 2, Final Fantasy VII, Hot Shots Golf 2, Jet Moto, Syphon Filter, Tomb Raider, Twisted Metal 2 and Wild Arms. Besides, MonkeyPaw Games has also announced that it will be releasing today some of its own PS one games like Alundra, Vanguard Bandits, Arc the Lad II and Tomba!

“We are working hard to ensure that all of your favorite PS one Classics titles will be available for download directly on your PS Vita via PlayStation Store (PS Store) as soon as possible,” Don Mesa, Director, Handheld Consoles Product Planning and Platform Software Innovation, SCEA, conveyed through a post on the official PlayStation blog.

Sony has also disclosed that gamers who have already purchased these titles on their PS3 systems, will be able to re-download them on their handhelds at no extra cost. Update 1.80 even adds to the system the ability to control the interface using buttons, and various tweaks to the Vita’s browser, music player, video player, Google Maps and other applications.

This new system software update for the PS Vita is live now in North American territories, while the PS one Classics are slated to arrive on PSN later today.
