Call of Duty Game Confirmed for PS Vita

After much speculation revolving around it ever since every other big franchise started jumping on the PS Vita bandwagon, Call of Duty has finally been corroborated to get a special handheld version later this year. Very few details about the game are available currently, but it has been revealed that it will be seen hitting the Vita in autumn.

In a recent video interview given to Game Trailers, Sony’s Guy Longworth put the word out that such a title is indeed in the making. But it still remains to be seen which CoD offering will be making its way to the handheld.

While Modern Warfare got its third entrant last year for major platforms, Black Ops seems too big a series to be launched for the Vita instead of the mainstream platforms. In a way, it is likely that this game will be a port of one of these titles, or it may also happen that a completely new series gets its roots set on the handheld.

“In the autumn, [my kids] are really looking forward to Call of Duty on Vita, and that’s going to be an absolute game changer for the platform,” mentioned Guy Longworth, SVP of PlayStation Brand Marketing, in the interview.

Reports are also making the rounds that Black Ops 2 might well be launched this year, though this news is yet to be confirmed by Activision. It is expected to be a sequel to the 2009 title CoD: Black Ops which has garnered quite a lot of success since its launch.
