Resistance: Burning Skies, which is touted by its maker to be the world’s first portable dual-analog FPS, has finally been endowed with a definite release date. Revealing the box art for the offering, a post on the official PlayStation blog has also shed some light on other details regarding this latest offering in the acclaimed Resistance series.

The cover of the box shows a ”˜freshly slain’ Hybrid Chimera lying on the streets of New York City, alongside the protagonist’s fire axe. This somewhat resembles the classic box art of Resistance: Fall of Man, the initial game in the long-spanning saga. Being hailed as the first ever dual-analog FPS on a portable device, this title has apparently been built to take full advantage of the PS Vita, including its front and rear touchscreen controls.
Derek Osgood, Product Marketing Specialist, Sony Computer Entertainment America, commented, “The touchscreen controls add a whole new dimension to the gameplay, delivering a powerful portable shooter experience. Never thought you’d play a console-quality shooter on a portable device? Game Director Harley Baldwin White-Wiedow has one thing to tell you: Two sticks, baby!”
Burning Skies supposedly takes players into a new dimension of the Resistance universe with its story. Transpiring in August, 1951, the narrative is a tale of survival during the Chimeran invasion of the East Coast. Players will be aked to assume control of Tom Riley, a firefighter from New Jersey.
Resistance: Burning Skies will be released for the PS Vita on May 29, 2012. It can be pre-ordered currently at a price of 39.99 USD (approx. Rs. 1,965).
