PS Vita Box Design and Launch Apps for European Markets Revealed

As gamers gear up for the launch of the PS Vita, Sony has offered them glimpse of things to come by unveiling the device’s box design and launch apps for European markets. Party, Group Messaging and Near are names of some of the apps which will make their debut with the PS Vita.

Seen above is the final box design for both the Wi-Fi and the Wi-Fi/3G models of the device. The apps which can be seen on the screen will come pre-installed on the handheld. The Welcome Park app is simply a tour guide that will explain to buyers, the features of the device. Gamers who wish to chat with their friends anytime they want, can make use of the Party app which allows voice and text chat with up to eight party members.

Furthermore, the Group Messaging app lets users contact their PSN friends with PSN Messages. Sending updates or pictures as well as group conversations are also possible through this feature. In addition, the Near app helps users connect with any other PSN user based around their locations. They can then challenge them for matches or compare trophies and stats.

Apart from that, there’s the Music app for playing songs transferred from the PC and PS3. The Trophies app allows users to manage their PS3 and PS Vita trophies while the Friends feature helps them keep in touch with their PSN friends. Gamers can access the device’s camera via the Photos feature. Other apps that also make their way to the handheld include the PlayStation Store and an internet browser.

While unveiling the PS Vita box design and launch apps, the European PlayStation blog also announced that more information related to the handheld will be doled out to gamers in coming weeks.
