Earlier this month, we had reported that Sony had released the Radiant Red PSP and the Vibrant Blue PSP for Asia. However, there was no word if these PSP consoles would also hit Japan. Now Sony Computer Entertainment Japan or SCEJ has sent word that they will be bringing the PlayStation Portable in four new colors.
Gamers in Japan can expect the Bright Yellow PSP and the Spirited Green PSP along with the Radiant Red PSP and the Vibrant Blue PSP. Just like the Asian launch, these new PSP handheld consoles have been given the moniker of Carnival Colors. That’s not all, there is also the PSP Carnival Colors Value Pack that features a PSP in a newly introduced color as well as an original PSP pouch, a wrist strap and a cloth and a 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo.
SCEJ will also introduce a Battery Pack that features a 2200mAh battery and a battery cover in the carnival colors for a price of JPY 5500 (approx. Rs. 3000). There are also the PSP Pouches, you guessed it, in the new colors, which will come with a price tag of JPY 1,800 (approx. Rs. 980). These accessories are only available in limited quantities.
Coming to the pricing, all these four PSP consoles will cost JPY 19,800 (approx. Rs. 10, 810). However, the Vibrant Blue and Radiant Red PlayStation Portables will release on March 5, 2009. The Bright Yellow and Spirited Green versions will be out a little later, i.e. on March 19, 2009. PSP Carnival Colors Value Pack is a little expensive and will cost JPY 24,800 (approx. Rs. 13, 545).
